These are the organizations we support so far:

SEE Turtles is committed to the conservation of sea turtles and their habitats worldwide. Donations support local communities in protecting nesting beaches, cleaning beaches to reduce plastic pollution and stopping the illegal trade in turtle shells. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps to guide endangered turtle hatchlings safely to the ocean and preserve biodiversity. Together they have saved millions of turtle hatchlings and removed thousands of kilos of plastic. Support this mission to make a difference.

Animal House Rescue is an organization in Mauritius dedicated to saving stray dogs. They provide care to rescued dogs and conduct spay and neuter programs to reduce the stray dog population. They also facilitate adoptions so that these dogs can find a safe and loving home. Through their efforts they strive for a better life for the animals and a more sustainable solution to the problem of stray dogs on the island.

How did we come into contact with The Animal House Rescue?

The name Mowri (pronounced Mauri) comes from the beautiful Mauritius, an incredibly beautiful island with lush greenery, beautiful beaches and swaying palm trees. The people are incredibly friendly, and there are many great excursions to do to get a good impression of the island. In this respect, Mauritius is highly recommended.

The only downside for us was the large number of stray dogs and cats in poor condition. Fortunately, we stayed in a hotel from the Attitude chain, which cares about animals. They feed the animals at fixed times and help with sterilization and adoption.

The name Mowri comes from a dog that did not belong to the pack of our hotel, but went from hotel to hotel in search of food. We met her on the first evening and it was love at first sight. She always came to lie with us and accompanied us when we went for walks, until one day she stopped coming. When we heard that dogs were being poisoned at the other hotels, we were concerned. We found her after four days and had no choice but to adopt her. The lady who arranged the adoption for us wrote the name as Mowri instead of Mauri, and we left it that way.

Mowri arrived four weeks after us and surprisingly gave birth to five healthy puppies ten days later. Of course we had to keep one of them.

That's why 5% of every Mowri towel sold goes to The Animal House Rescue in Mauritius. This foundation is led by Lorena Gaus, who lovingly takes care of the animals, provides medical care, and helps with adoption and sterilization programs and education. It is indescribable what she does, and she could use all the extra support. The Animal House Rescue does not yet have a website, but can be found on Facebook.
